Dealing difficult people cards and those difficult people who are negative norms

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

Pick up a pack of playing cards and start dealing. We are actually going to start Dealing Difficult People Cards.

DEALING DIFFICULT PEOPLE PACK OF CARDS

One type of person in the Dealing Difficult People Pack of Cards that you will experience is what is called the NEGATIVE NORMS.

Such Negative Norms change lemonade back to lemons. They are all about pessimism not optimism. There is no silver lining with these difficult people.

DEALING WITH DIFFICULT PEOPLE AT WORK – SANDRA HAS A QUESTION

Now Sandra sent in the following question: “I feel I am dealing with difficult people at work who are really negative. There’s a couple of people particularly that always appear to have a negative perspective. But I’m not certain if I am merely over-reacting and they’re not as negative as I think. How do I know?”

DEALING DIFFICULT PEOPLE NEGATIVITY TEST

Excellent question Sandra! Frequently we can over-react in handling difficult people and construe their behavior in a particular way. Here’s the simple test to use when dealing with difficult people who you think are very negative.

HEAR THE LANGUAGE WHEN HANDLING DIFFICULT PEOPLE

difficultpeopleears
The negativity test is all about listening to the language that people use on a constant basis. A very negative person, thinks in negative thoughts and uses very negative words and language.

So Sandra just listen to how these people speak. If the negative words seriously outweigh the positive words on a persistent basis then you are dealing with a Negative Norm.

DEALING DIFFICULT PEOPLE MORE TO COME

In the next blog post we’ll look at some of the negative words that these Negative Norms routinely use. You’ll recognize the words and be able to spot Negative Norms immediately.
